At the impetus of the i-Lab, Air Liquide is a partner in the Hello Tomorrow challenge, an international contest for technology start-ups. The challenge, which seeks to promote projects that combine science and technology, is open to young researchers and entrepreneurs. The challenge is organized around 6 categories: food and agriculture, energy and environment, transport and mobility, materials and manufacturing, healthcare, and information technologies. Air Liquide will be the sponsor in the Energy and Environment category.
The application period is open until the end of February and, to ensure that the best applicants come forward, the initiative is being promoted internationally, in particular at the level of universities and research laboratories. Related events will be hosted by Hello Tomorrow ambassadors in more than 60 cities.
When the first selection phase ends, 30 semi-finalist start-ups will benefit from the support of the Group’s scientific experts and sales managers from April to June. They will present their projects at the finals, which will be held on June 25 and 26, 2015 at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie de Paris in France. A number of awards will be handed out, including 100,000 euros in funding. Air Liquide will be awarding a 15,000 euro prize.
Air Liquide’s participation in the Hello Tomorrow challenge is part of the Group’s broader approach to open innovation. This challenge will enable Air Liquide to detect certain disruptive technologies, to identify potential collaborations, and to carve out a space in the global innovation ecosystem.
